THE DETAILS, IN PLAIN SIGHT

Privacy policy

What Wavy accesses, what stays on your device, and how you stay in control.

A clear starting point

This policy covers the current Wavy Windows app (1.8 onward) and this website, maintained through the csgdV2/WavyMusic project. The app does not require an account or login.

Wavy has no developer-hosted account or library database. Downloads are hosted on GitHub.

What stays on your device

Wavy stores settings, search history, playback/cache metadata, playlists, favorite albums, downloaded audio, artwork, and processed audio copies locally. Local history and library information may be used to choose recommendation queries.

Files are stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wavy; older versions may migrate from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wavelength. Library files and caches are ordinary local files and are not all encrypted. The developer does not receive a copy of your library through a Wavy server.

Requests to other services

  • YouTube and related content services: catalog searches, artwork, audio requests, and recommendation queries communicate with third parties, which may receive search terms, content identifiers, your IP address, and ordinary connection information.
  • Lyrics providers: depending on the chosen source, song titles and artist names may be sent to LRCLIB, lyrics.ovh, or Genius.
  • Discord: presence is enabled by default and can be disabled in Wavy Settings. When enabled during playback, Wavy sends the song title, artist, artwork URL, playback timing, and song link to the local Discord client. Discord may share it under your Discord settings.
  • GitHub: downloads, source access, public support issues, and yt-dlp provisioning involve GitHub. This website requests public GitHub release metadata to update installer links.

Each provider handles its requests under its own policies. Wavy does not sell your library, use it for advertising, or use it for model training. If you submit diagnostics or files to support, the project receives what you submit. Public GitHub issues are visible to everyone.

Retention and deletion

Data remains locally until you remove it, an audio-cache retention setting removes eligible saved audio, or you delete the app data folder.

  1. Use Settings to clear search history or saved audio.
  2. Delete a playlist in Wavy to remove that local playlist copy.
  3. Clearing playback history hides entries from the history view; cache metadata can remain.
  4. For complete local removal, close Wavy and delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wavy. Also check an older Wavelength folder if applicable.

This removes local playlists, favorites, settings, history, cached audio/artwork, and saved app files. It does not delete third-party accounts or online playlists. Uninstalling may leave app data behind.

Website privacy and hosting

This website has no advertising scripts, analytics added by Wavy, or tracking cookies set by its own code. Its script handles navigation and checks public GitHub release metadata so download links can point directly to the latest installer. This sends ordinary connection information to GitHub.

The hosting platform may process network logs, browser information, security checks, and platform-level access/session cookies under its own policies. Linked services have separate privacy practices.

Questions or requests

Contact the project through GitHub Issues. Do not post passwords, authorization tokens, credentials, or personal account exports. Request a private follow-up before sharing private details.

The developer cannot remotely delete local app files from your device. The deletion instructions above let you remove them directly.
